Sarah Palin — A Date with Destiny September 27, 2008

The two landmark dates with destiny met with sure success. Another date is due shortly. What do the stars indicate for the next date? Is the road to victory smooth or there are hurdles to be crossed. What lies at the end of the road? A victory flag or another lap to go before the win?

On December 4, 2006, Governor Sarah Palin made history as the first woman to become her state Alaskas’s chief executive.

On August 29, 2008, in Ohio, Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, announced that he had chosen Palin as his running mate. Since the selection of Sarah Palin, the Republicans have gone up in the polls as she has captured much of the media attention once reserved for Barack Obama.

With this second date, she also became an international celebrity overnight leading to a mutual win-win situation for her as well as for McCain.

Sarah Heath Palin arrived in Alaska with her family in 1964, when her parents came to teach at a school. Palin, who graduated from Wasilla High School in 1982. She received a degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987.

She eloped to marry Todd Palin, who she met in high school. He is a commercial fisherman, a production operator a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union and a world champion snow machine racer. Todd and Sarah have five children – Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig. Track enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 11, 2007 and is set to deploy to Iraq in the service of his country. This year, Trig joined the Palin family and suffers from Down’s Syndrome As the mother of a special-needs child, Palin has pledged to all those families with special-needs children to be their advocate in the White House.

Since taking office, her top priorities have been energy development, ethics reform, education and workforce development, public health and safety, and transportation and infrastructure development. She has brought Republicans, Democrats and Independents together.

But she also has been a bundle of controversies:

• She is opposed to abortion even in cases of rape and incest (even if victims are children)
• She offered a bounty of $150 for each left front leg of freshly killed wolves
• She strongly supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
• She used $400,000 of state money to fund a propaganda campaign in support of aerial hunting.
• She is opposed to listing the polar bear as an endangered species because it might limit oil exploitation. She is presently under investigation in Alaska for abuse of power
• She has no international experience and only obtained her first passport just last year

With the above background in mind, we venture to explore her future life through her planetary movements. Let us first see if the natal chart supports some strong features of her personality.

Strong Religious Background: Jupiter, strong in its own sign of Pisces with exalted 9L and 2L venus. Both forming two Mahapurush Yogas in the 7H. Both these strong benefics aspect the ascendant. Her strong religious faith comes from this placement as Jupiter inclines a person to follow traditional or conservative spiritual paths. Jupiter’s aspect is very close to the ascendant, and Jupiter is in the nakshatra of ascendant. The good fortune and religion of the 9th house is transferred to her whole person. Aspect of this Jupiter on 3H and 11H also confirms the presence of many siblings in her life.

Charming personality: Palin won the Miss Wasilla Pageant beauty contest in 1982. She came second in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant in 1984 and she was also awarded the title of Miss Congeniality. Much of her beauty and grace is the result of her exalted Venus, placed with Jupiter in watery sign Pisces. Malaviya yoga, especially in 7H bestows The person has a graceful appearance, fine and beautiful lips, slim waist, handsome body, deep voice, sparkling teeth and bright complexion like the full Moon. The cheeks are prominent, eyes bright, and a long upper limbs approaching the knees.

Hamsa Yoga native has a fair complexion, prominent cheeks, beautiful face, and the skin has a golden luster. The voice is sweet like that of a swan. The person has Kapha constitution and has fondness of water sports.

Ambitious: Mars and Saturn conjunction in 6H indicates an ambitious character who always wants to test her limits and tries to get the maximum possible advantage from any challenge. It also makes her exceedingly reactive, assertive and aggressive by nature. Her strong measures for taking on corruption has made her very popular in Alaskan politics.

Sporty Connections: Mars is very close to exaltation, in 6H close to malefics Saturn and the Sun make her the self-styled “hocky mom” and no wonder that her leisure activities are hunting, ice-fishing and riding the snowmobiles. She has also run a marathon.

Her political journey and rise as a public figure started in Rahu’s MD itself. Rahu in Kendra is in Gemini, in LL’s sign and own nakshatra is a Rajyogkarak. In navamsha it is in 9H with LL mer in pisces. Rahu venus brought her into limelight with the 3/9 axis of effort and luck working in her favour.

There was no stopping her as she seemed to move effortlessly, using her charm and charisma to win over people even for her unorthodox and controversial ways. Jupiter dasha that began in 1996 gave her a further fillip and will run on until 2014. As we’ve seen, Jupiter is very well placed so that is broadly in keeping with her rise in status and power as mayor of Wasilla, then governor of Alaska and now as the VP nominee.

Now into Jupiter-Moon dasha since 2007, which will be in effect until February 2009, seems to have done wonders for her, literally pulling her out and making her an international figure. Running pratyantarnath Venus is the 9L very well placed in the 7H of padprapti house in Pisces. This is certainly an excellent combination of planets and generally bodes well for all matters.

We also have to look at the situation of the dasha lords in context of the prevailing transits from now until the election.

On the 4th Nov 2008, transiting Jupiter is placed in the own 4H of masses on exact natal degrees, in the star of venus and aspects the 10H of authority. Jupiter is joined by moon on the day and forms a strong gajkesari yog in 4H. Venus is also well placed in 3H and aspects own 9H of luck. There will be some action of luck on the election day, whatever the result.

As far as the dashanaths are concerned, the stage is set properly in the natal chart. The show is superb, but do we see the results?

By themselves, these dasha planets do not confer victory in the election since they may describe the increase in status that Palin has enjoyed in this race so far. She may still not get to the coveted seat. But can certainly look forward to a bright future as a possible presidential candidate in the future. In that sense, the positive karma endowed in the Jupiter-Venus period may only represent her bursting onto the national stage, but not actually put her there now.

A look at navamsh and transits on navamsha reveal a story of some disappointment.

This is because the navamsha position of these planets show some weakness as venus is debilitated in the 3H of efforts with mysterious rahu, and Jupiter in 8H in aquarius, both in 6/8 position. This might result in sudden last minute developments that push her down the popularity chart as this also happens in the 3H which is 12th from transit Jupiter. The antarnath moon exalted in 11H does show a redeeming feature.

Saturn, the dispositor of 8H Jupiter exalts in the house of masses, but its lord goes to 12H from itself. It is with mars who acts like a marak also for the popularity in 4H. The same mars is 10L aspecting 10H, but as 5L (8H from 10H) also leaves something to be desired.

Checking the D-4 in this context also confirms the above reasoning. Mars Saturn conjunction goes to 12H and sun debilitates in 8H. The dashanaths Jup and venus get caught up in the rahu-ketu confusion.

The transits also show some weak points:

A debilitated 12L sun with 8L mars afflict the LL and 10L mercury. There is another affliction by Saturn in leo who also aspects the house of luck and may result in loss. Besides, the lagna gets hemmed in malefics and deprives her of due strength.

Given Mars’ rulership over the 3/8 houses, it may turn out to be the difficult area for an election victory. It may also describe the tension and excitement on election day, leading to some sudden turning of tables.

Ashtakvarga Scores: Natal chart has 32 pts in 10H and 27 pts in 11H, showing less gains. From natal Jupiter and venus there are 31 pts in 10H and 26 in 11H showing the same situation. In transit,

Jupiter is transiting with 28 points in sagi. 10th from jup has 23 pts and 11th has a whopping 33 points in transit. This might result in an unexpected gain, as from antarnath moon also similar situation prevails. But from PDnath venus, who has a larger say, the situation is reverse with 32 pts in 10H and 23 in 11H. The weakness of venus here is coming again to the forefront.

Varshphal: It is dwijanma chart with virgo rising. Jup-venus in 4H aspected by 8L mars. LL mercury retrograde in 5H with 12L sun. Moon, the 11L in 8H. Overall, not a happy scenario.
